Get Involved Palo Alto is proud to welcome another brave and talented group of interns to the team. Take a look at their short biographies and see what we mean! This summer, we have a great team of mentors, students, and case managers to collaborate on eight different projects! We look forward to seeing them have fun and make stuff happen :)
Dreamcatchers: Quantitative and Qualitative Data
Allison Cheng is a student at Palo Alto High School (class of 2019). She enjoys helping others and exploring the scientific field. She is thrilled to be participating in the DreamCatchers: Quantitative and Qualitative Data internship because it combines her interest in research with her passion for helping others, and provides an opportunity to learn new ways to use technology to make a difference. Additionally, she enjoys playing volleyball, baking, and playing music in her spare time.
Dreamcatchers: Website Content and Development
Alyssa Leong is a student at Palo Alto High School (class of 2019). She has previously done volunteer work with organizations such as Digital Moose Lounge and The Shoebox Project. Alyssa enjoys reading, photography, and dancing in her free time. She hopes that through this internship she will learn new web design skills and leave a positive impact on the community.
Sandhini Agarwal is a student at Gunn High School (class of 2019). She loves to code and has developed an app on MIT App Inventor 2 called StudyBuddies. Her favorite subjects in school are math and biology. During her free time Sandhini loves to read and watch TV. She also plays badminton and piano.
Energy and Sustainability Video Making & Zero Waste Video Making
Christine Luo is a student at Gunn High School (class of 2017). Her favorite subjects in school are computer science and music. Christine currently plays the violin in the Gunn Orchestra and she hopes to continue playing the violin in the future as well. Her hobbies include crafting, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. Through the Zero Waste internship, she hopes to learn more about the Zero Waste movement and environmental sustainability.
Luke Jouppi is a student at Palo Alto High School (class of 2019). He has an interest in math and science, space, computers and computer learning, medicine, and other technology-related fields. In the future, he aims to attend medical school and eventually become a surgeon. For now, his hobbies include walking his dog, playing video-games and watching Netflix. When possible, he also enjoys tutoring others in math and science, or occasionally English.
Innovative Cane Design for the Blind
Ethan Kao is a student at Palo Alto High School (class of 2017). He is a co-founder at a start-up called AllergyTable.com helping people with food allergies find and review restaurants. Using technology to help those in need is very important to Ethan and he hopes to make a difference through the Smart Cane Internship.
Palo Alto Art Center
Claire Lin is a student at Palo Alto High School (class of 2018). Her hobbies are photography and traveling to different places, whether internationally or locally. She’s a competitive swimmer and participates in track and field. She grew up in the Palo Alto and has lived there her whole life. She signed up for the Get involved Palo Alto program because she wants to make a difference in her community and try something new this summer.
Megan Chai is a student at Palo Alto High School (class of 2019). She enjoys painting as well as traveling to different places to experience something new. She recently developed an interest for volleyball and has started playing outside of school. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in the arts field.
Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo
Tina Shi is a student at Gunn High School (class of 2019). In her free time she likes dog-sitting and works at the Los Altos Kumon Learning Center. She also enjoys playing volleyball and has been playing for four years. She loves animals and enjoys taking care of them. Tina is looking forward to making the Junior Museum and Zoo a better place.

Run 4 Fun Sports Camp
Madeline is a student at Palo Alto High School (class of 2018). She loves volleyball and plays both indoor and beach volleyball. She has been in Spanish Immersion since kindergarten and is fluent in Spanish. Madeline is very interested in medicine and would love to become a doctor when she is older.
