Lieutenant (LT) Lorna Mae Devera has served in the US Navy for over twenty years. She currently works in the San Francisco Navy Recruiting District office, fulfilling multiple roles: 1st Division Officer; Science Technology, Engineering and Math coordinator; and Navy Reserve Officer Recruiter.
LT Devera was born and raised in the East Bay and enlisted in the US Navy in 1993 under the Sea Air Mariner program as an undesignated seaman recruit. After achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class Personnel Specialist, LT Devera was commissioned in 2008 under the direct commission officer program as a public affairs officer.
During her two decades of service, LT Devera has enjoyed a wide variety of increasingly responsible assignments – many with Navy Reserve Units – in locations around the globe, including San Diego (USS Dixon, and Naval Space and Warfare Command); the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; Newport, Rhode Island; and Afghanistan, where she volunteered as a public affairs officer for Operation Enduring Freedom in 2011-12.
