Sharon Biney-Mensah’s path to a career in counseling began with undergraduate studies at San Jose City College. She transferred to San Jose State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in behavioral science with a concentration in sociology. She then attended JFK University for graduate work, receiving her master’s degree in counseling psychology with a concentration in marriage and family therapy. Sharon has applied her counseling skills in a variety of settings. She provided therapy, crisis management, and group therapy to girls in Santa Clara County juvenile hall. She then worked for a non-profit agency in San Jose, where she worked with families in their homes and in the community. Sharon also worked at a middle school where she provided individual and group therapy to 6-8th-graders. In the fall of 2012 she joined the staff at Paly, where she counsels students in her role as a mental health therapist.
